Position Overview

The Purchase Controller is accountable for overseeing the procurement and processing of the department's purchasing activities. This encompasses the procurement of materials, equipment, and services. The role involves acting as the primary liaison with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods in alignment with departmental budgets. Responsibilities include managing the entire procurement process-from budget management and identifying requirements to processing orders, ensuring accurate invoice handling, project close-out, and work handover

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for materials and services.
  • Identify procurement requirements and prepare detailed specifications.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Organize on-site visits and online meetings
  • Develop and prepare tender dossiers for submission
  • Lead and facilitate the negotiation phase with vendors and suppliers
  • Evaluate received offers in compliance with established procurement guidelines
  • Award contracts to successful vendors and ensure all procurement documentation is completed and compliant.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
  • Process orders and oversee approval workflows within procurement systems to ensure timely approvals.
  • Oversee procurement of security measures and related systems
  • Manage procurement and rental of containers for site use
  • Ensure standard furnishings are ordered to maintain fit-for-purpose usage of office containers
  • Ensure proper billing of services to relevant projects
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste in close coordination with local suppliers
  • Monitor and manage scrap metal credits
  • Compile and evaluate statistics related to waste disposal for ongoing projects
  • Ensure proper and accurate billing of waste management services to projects
  • Prepare and submit construction, conversion, and power applications, ensuring compliance with local authorities.
  • Organize and maintain fire protection documentation in accordance with applicable laws, collaborating closely with both internal and external fire protection experts
  • Claim Management & Legal Support: Provide support in claim management processes and assist in Lonza's legal cases as required
  • Manage the closure of orders and projects, including handovers and the creation of final documentation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Unifier, SAP, SAP Ariba, and Invoice track software tools for procurement and project management activities

Key Requirement:

  • Education: BSc Engineering / Diploma
  • 5+ years experience
  • Technical Skills: Process management and improvement, Time management, Attention to detail and organization skills, Client relationships, Innovation mindset.
  • IT Skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook, SAP, SAP Ariba, Unifier, Invoice Track, DMS
  • Fluent in English & German
  • Excellent IT skills.

  • Well-connected, especially with suppliers
