Medical Director- Neurology

Medical Director - Neurology

Location: Greater Boston Area (Hybrid)

About the Opportunity
We're partnering with a well-capitalized, clinical-stage biotech that is quietly building one of the more compelling pipelines in neurology and rare disease. The company is leveraging a highly validated biological pathway with broad therapeutic relevance, giving it multiple shots on goal across indications with significant unmet need.

With multiple clinical programs underway and key inflection points ahead, this is a pivotal time to join. The organization combines strong scientific leadership, disciplined execution, and a clear long-term vision to build a category-defining franchise.

This role offers the chance to step into a high-visibility position where a Neurologist can directly shape how novel therapies are developed, rather than simply execute against a pre-set plan.

The Role
As Medical Director, you will serve as a core medical leader across one or more clinical programs in neurology / neuromuscular disease. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role spanning medical monitoring, clinical strategy, and external engagement.

You'll work at the intersection of clinical care, translational science, and drug development, partnering with internal teams and external experts to ensure trials are scientifically rigorous, operationally sound, and clinically meaningful.

Medical Monitoring & Patient Safety

  • Serve as Medical Monitor, ensuring patient safety and data integrity
  • Review and interpret emerging clinical data to guide trial conduct
  • Advise investigators on patient management and safety events
  • Partner with Safety to ensure high-quality, compliant reporting

External Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with neurologists, investigators, and KOLs
  • Participate in advisory boards, site engagement, and scientific forums
  • Help position programs credibly within the neurology community

Cross-Functional Impact

  • Collaborate closely with Clinical Ops, Biostats, Regulatory, and Translational teams
  • Help align execution with scientific and clinical goals
  • Contribute to evaluation of future indications and pipeline opportunities

Qualifications

Education

  • MD or DO with board certification/eligibility in Neurology (Pediatric Neurology also highly relevant)

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical drug development experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Direct experience with the roles and responsibilities of a MM as detailed above, with a proven track record of navigating complex clinical trials or equivalent complex and multifaceted clinical management situations.
  • Direct experience with pediatric and rare indication clinical trials is preferred.
  • Experience in neuromuscular, neurology, or rare disease therapeutic areas is preferred, and direct experience working on trials in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or a similar indication is a plus.

Profile

  • Clinically strong neurologist who wants greater impact beyond patient-by-patient care
  • Scientifically curious with ability to engage deeply in mechanism-driven programs
  • Thrives in lean, fast-moving environments where individuals wear multiple hats
  • Strong communicator who can influence without authority
