Medical Device Engineer (Electronics & Firmware)
We are currently supporting an innovative medical device company in Zurich that is looking to hire a Medical Device Engineer (Electronics). This role offers the opportunity to work on advanced implantable technologies and contribute across the full product lifecycle in a highly regulated environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Act as subject matter expert for electronics, embedded systems, and firmware development
- Manage the lifecycle of electronic components within implantable medical device systems
- Support change management activities in collaboration with Regulatory and Manufacturing teams
- Create and maintain technical documentation in line with quality management systems
- Contribute to regulatory and quality activities from a technical perspective
- Perform verification testing and technical performance analysis
- Conduct root cause investigations for non-conformities and returned products
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders within development projects
Candidate profile:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- ~5+ years R&D experience in a regulated industry, including ~3+ years within medical devices
- Strong experience with analog and digital circuit design
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools (schematic capture and PCB layout)
- Knowledge of embedded systems and firmware development
- Experience working with low-power / battery-operated devices is advantageous
- Strong analytical skills and a structured, quality-driven mindset
- Fluent English required
