Director of Business Development

Reporting to the Head of U.S. Business Development, the Business Development Director will play a pivotal role in driving strategic growth initiatives, primarily focused on the U.S. market. This position is responsible for identifying qualified leads, managing the sales pipeline, and securing new business while fostering long-term relationships aligned with the organization's values and culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire new clients and manage existing relationships, aligning the sales process with customer buying behavior from initial contact to close.
  • Network across target industries to identify opportunities that match organizational capabilities.
  • Manage the full sales pipeline efficiently to meet business development goals.
  • Represent the company at key conferences and trade shows to enhance visibility and generate leads.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and execute sales strategies informed by market research and competitive analysis.
  • Draft and submit proposals, and facilitate pre-engagement activities such as CDAs/NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, and meeting preparations.
  • Lead contract and agreement negotiations.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and prospect data using a CRM system.
  • Travel up to 50% may be required; flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet client needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience in a CRO setting, with a focus on bioanalysis, biomarkers, and translational sciences (e.g., clinical pharmacology/pharmacometrics). Experience in biologics CMC analytical services is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to manage projects from initiation to completion, meeting forecast timelines.
  • Demonstrated success in driving large-scale partnerships within the U.S. market.
  • Strong skills in consultative selling, value creation, negotiation, and closing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with high emotional intelligence.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with strong project management abilities.
