Role Summary
The VP of Biomarkers will be a core member of the leadership team, responsible for expanding the biomarker services portfolio, strengthening scientific rigor, and driving commercial growth. This individual will combine deep scientific expertise with strategic, client‑facing leadership and end‑to‑end project ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Engagement
- Serve as the technical expert during sales cycles, joining client discussions, advising on study design, and supporting proposal development.
- Develop and deliver scientific presentations and pitches to prospective and existing clients.
- Identify, research, and engage potential biotech, pharma, and CRO partners.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure long term retention and account growth.
- Represent the organization at scientific conferences, industry events, and strategic forums.
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Manage biomarker projects from initial protocol recommendations through data review, analysis, and submission of bioanalytical/validation plans and reports.
- Partner with laboratory scientists to resolve analytical challenges, maintain data quality, and ensure timely delivery.
- Present data and study readouts to clients and internal teams.
Scientific Strategy & Capability Expansion
- Lead internal research initiatives to expand biomarker and analytical capabilities.
- Conduct literature reviews and competitive analyses to identify new technology or service opportunities.
- Support development of new assay platforms, workflows, and analytical strategies.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Reporting
- Partner closely with operations, sales, and finance to ensure alignment of priorities and resource planning.
- Track performance metrics, pipeline activity, and client engagement through the CRM and present updates to leadership.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
- 10+ years of post‑graduate experience in biomedical research or the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong expertise in stable isotope tracing, mass spectrometry, and biomarker assay development across pre‑clinical and clinical environments.
- Experience with metabolic assays such as lipogenesis and protein turnover studies.
- Demonstrated project leadership and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Previous exposure to commercial activities such as pitching, proposal development, or client‑facing project work.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable operating autonomously.
