Senior R&D Engineer - Hydrophilic Coatings & Catheter Technologies

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Lead hydrophilic coating development activities for catheter-based medical devices.
• Design and execute experimental studies to optimise coating formulations and application processes.
• Characterise coating performance, lubricity, adhesion and durability.
• Investigate coating-related performance issues and implement technical solutions.
• Support design verification, testing and validation activities.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, Materials, Quality, Regulatory and Manufacturing teams.
• Analyse and interpret experimental data to drive development decisions.
• Generate technical documentation to support product development and regulatory requirements.
• Support technology transfer and manufacturing scale-up activities where required.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in:
  • Chemistry
  • Polymer Chemistry
  • Materials Science
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Or a related scientific discipline
• Previous experience developing or supporting catheter-based medical devices.
• Experience working with hydrophilic coatings, surface modification technologies or polymer coating systems.
• Strong laboratory and experimental design skills.
• Experience within a regulated medical device environment.
• Excellent technical problem-solving and data analysis capabilities.

Highly Desirable Experience

• Development of coated catheters, guidewires or interventional devices.
• Hydrophilic coating formulation development.
• Polymer chemistry and surface chemistry.
• Biomaterials and advanced materials characterisation.
• Surface treatment technologies.
• Coating process optimisation and scale-up.
• Failure analysis and root cause investigations.
• Design verification and validation activities.
