Project Manager CAPEX Chemicals
Our client, a leading international chemical manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced CAPEX Project Manager to support the delivery of engineering and investment projects, for a duration of 1 year (temporary contract)
This position will be responsible for managing a portfolio of brownfield and greenfield capital projects, ensuring safe execution, budget adherence, schedule compliance, and successful handover to operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage CAPEX projects from concept through execution, commissioning, and handover.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, including process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, civil, and utilities.
- Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Manage engineering contractors, suppliers, and construction partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee design reviews, technical documentation, procurement activities, and equipment delivery.
- Ensure compliance with site safety standards, engineering practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project objectives.
- Provide regular progress updates to key stakeholders and senior management.
- Support commissioning, start-up, performance testing, and operational handover activities.
- Drive continuous improvement and best practices in project execution.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
- Proven 5 years of experience managing CAPEX projects within a chemical, specialty chemicals, or pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong understanding of engineering project lifecycles from FEED/design through construction and commissioning.
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Knowledge of process equipment, utilities, piping systems, and industrial manufacturing facilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Fluency in English required; German fluent is a strong plus
