Medical Science Liaison (MSL) - Anti-infectives

Purpose of the Role

A field-based, non-promotional scientific role responsible for providing medical and scientific expertise to healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders. The role supports evidence-based decision-making, identifies unmet medical needs, and contributes to medical strategy while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • KOL / External Expert Engagement

    • Build and maintain relationships with key external experts, healthcare professionals, and academic institutions
    • Facilitate scientific exchange and support medical education initiatives
    • Organize and contribute to advisory boards, symposia, and investigator meetings
  • Scientific Communication

    • Deliver scientific presentations and respond to medical inquiries
    • Share up-to-date clinical and scientific insights internally and externally
    • Support publication development (abstracts, posters, manuscripts)
  • Clinical Trial Support

    • Provide input into study design and protocol development
    • Identify and engage clinical investigators
    • Support investigator-initiated trials
  • Medical Strategy Execution

    • Contribute to and implement medical plans
    • Attend congresses and gather insights
    • Maintain deep knowledge of therapeutic areas, clinical data, and competitive landscape
  • Cross-functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with internal teams (e.g. medical, commercial, market access)
    • Provide scientific training and support

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Degree in life sciences (e.g. medicine, pharmacy); advanced degree (PhD/MSc) preferred
  • Experience: ~3+ years as an MSL in the pharmaceutical industry
    • Relevant therapeutic expertise (e.g. infectious diseases, intensive care, or oncology) preferred
  • Skills:
    • Strong scientific communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders
    • Project management and cross-functional collaboration
    • High level of self-motivation and accountability
    • Fluent in English

Key Relationships

  • External: Key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, research institutions
  • Internal: Medical affairs, clinical development, and cross-functional teams
