Key Account Manager - Infectious Disease
I'm representing an international pharmaceutical client who is looking to appoint an experienced Key Account Manager to support their hospital and specialty care business across Switzerland.
This role focuses on building long‑term, compliant partnerships with key hospital accounts, driving access and launch readiness, and executing structured account strategies within a regulated environment.
The role
You will take ownership of strategic hospital accounts, working cross‑functionally to ensure effective access, engagement, and commercial execution. The position combines strong account planning with hands‑on field execution and close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Key account & stakeholder management
- Develop and maintain long‑term, compliant relationships with key hospital accounts
- Identify, map, and engage relevant stakeholders across public and private institutions
- Coordinate hospital listing and access activities in alignment with internal teams
Account planning & field execution
- Create and implement structured account plans aligned with business priorities
- Support pre‑launch and launch activities at account level, including stakeholder prioritisation
- Deliver compliant scientific and promotional interactions, including event and congress support
- Act as a trusted partner for HCPs, KOLs, and healthcare decision‑makers
Market insight & performance management
- Analyse market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive activity
- Use CRM and field data (e.g. Veeva CRM or similar) to plan, track, and optimise engagement
- Monitor performance and sales outcomes in collaboration with commercial effectiveness teams
Your background
- University degree in natural sciences or equivalent
- Proven experience as a Key Account Manager in the hospital environment
- Demonstrated track record in launching pharmaceutical products in hospital or specialty care settings
- Solid background in anti‑infectives is required; experience with antifungals, ICU settings, or complex hospital pathways is a strong advantage
- Hands‑on experience with hospital listing and access processes (essential)
- Experience in hospital price negotiations and strong understanding of hospital pharmacy structures (highly valued)
- Familiarity with structured or value‑based selling approaches
- Strong account planning, segmentation, and prioritisation capabilities
- Confident CRM user (Veeva CRM or comparable platforms)
- Data‑driven mindset with the ability to use insights to guide field activities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Autonomous, structured, and collaborative working style
- Fluent German with professional English proficiency
