ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced scientific leader to head our Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics group in Freising. In this role you will drive the scientific direction of the group, lead a talented team of research associates and scientists, and serve as the primary partner for our pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
▸Lead and mentor the Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics group of approximately 5 research associates and (senior) scientists, supporting their personal growth and scientific development
▸Assume responsibility for matrix leadership and management of multiple proteomics projects, collaborating closely with clients and our Chemical Biology & Biochemistry and Computational Biology groups
▸Drive the continuous development of the mass spectrometry platform by evaluating new technologies and approaches, automating workflows, and streamlining processes
▸Establish strong scientific partnerships with clients in long-term collaborations, delivering tailored solutions and ensuring the highest scientific standards
▸Interact closely with Business Development in the preparation and review of scientific proposals, ensuring information flow on platform developments and jointly generating new business opportunities
▸Guide resource allocation in a dynamic environment, meeting business requirements and timelines


YOUR PROFILE
Qualifications & Experience
▸PhD in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field
▸Strong track record in mass spectrometry-based proteomics (own publications) with at least 5 years of professional experience in a Pharma, Biotech, or CRO setting - ideally in drug target biology and biomarker discovery
▸In-depth knowledge of the latest Thermo LC-MS technology platforms with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
▸Extensive experience in quantitative proteomics approaches, data analysis, and interpretation - including global proteome and PTM profiling using label-free, SILAC, TMT, and targeted proteomics approaches
▸Profound experience in project management and the design and coordination of large-scale proteomics projects
