Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist - Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support and enhance workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation across operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying hazards, reducing occupational risks, and ensuring adherence to global and local safety standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety, environmental, and occupational risks within operations
  • Determine and document likelihood of incident occurrence, severity, and residual risk, implementing mitigation strategies
  • Lead incident investigations using structured methodologies (e.g. Root Cause Analysis, Ishikawa, 5 Whys)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, and EPA regulations
  • Perform ergonomic assessments using tools such as RULA (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment) and REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment)
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and safety reviews to ensure continuous improvement
  • Deliver safety training and awareness programs to employees and stakeholders
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and response activities
  • Monitor environmental impact and ensure adherence to sustainability and environmental standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to embed safety into processes

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum) in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related discipline
  • Proven experience within an EHS, Occupational Safety, or Environmental Health role
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, incident management, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience working within regulated or industrial environments (e.g. manufacturing, pharma, engineering, healthcare, etc.)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within a MedTech or Medical Device environment (highly desirable)
  • Exposure to ISO standards (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
  • Understanding of regulated environments aligned to medical device manufacturing standards
  • Experience handling multi-site or cross-functional safety programs
  • Demonstrated ability to reduce incident rates and improve safety KPIs
