Clinical Contract and Budget Manager
We're supporting a global medical device organisation seeking a Manager, Clinical Contracts & Budgets to lead a team responsible for the negotiation and execution of site agreements and budgets across international clinical studies. The Role
As Manager, Clinical Contracts & Budgets, you will oversee a team of specialists supporting clinical trial contracting activities across multiple studies and regions. You'll play a key role in driving performance, developing talent, and ensuring efficient contract and budget execution to support study start-up timelines.
Working closely with Clinical Operations, Legal, Procurement, and other cross-functional stakeholders, you'll help shape contracting strategy, improve processes, and act as a senior point of escalation for complex negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Clinical Contracts & Budget Specialists.
- Drive team performance, productivity, and achievement of key operational metrics.
- Support resource planning and forecasting to ensure appropriate study coverage.
- Partner with Clinical Operations and Trial Managers to align contract execution with study priorities.
- Collaborate with Legal and Procurement teams to streamline contracting activities.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and development of employees and contractors.
- Act as a senior escalation point for contract and budget-related issues.
- Participate in study kick-off meetings and provide strategic guidance throughout the study lifecycle.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies across the function.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Previous experience managing teams within Clinical Operations, Clinical Contracts, Site Contracts, or Clinical Trial Start-Up.
- Strong understanding of clinical trial agreements, site contracting, and budget negotiations.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate complex operational challenges within a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Background
- Experience within a medical device, CRO, or pharmaceutical environment.
- Previous leadership experience managing Contracts & Budgets teams globally.
- Advanced degree or equivalent industry experience.
