QC Microbiology Specialist (Contract)
6-12 Month Contract | Food & Beverage Industry
We are seeking an experienced QC Microbiology Specialist to support quality operations within a leading food and beverage manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on contract role focused on microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, quality investigations, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental samples.
- Support environmental monitoring programs across manufacturing and production areas.
- Investigate microbiological deviations, non-conformances, and out-of-specification results.
- Review laboratory data, generate reports, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, food safety regulations, and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to resolve quality issues.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, or a related discipline.
- Proven QC Microbiology experience within the food and beverage industry.
- Strong understanding of microbiological testing methods, environmental monitoring, and food safety programs.
- Experience investigating quality events, deviations, and contamination issues.
- Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, SQF, BRC, or other food industry quality standards.
- Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience
- Beverage, dairy, ingredients, packaged foods, or consumer goods manufacturing experience.
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections and customer audits.
- Exposure to laboratory method validation and continuous improvement projects.
