Maintenance Technician

Role Purpose

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment used in the production of medical devices. This role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, GMP compliance, and rapid fault resolution to minimise downtime while maintaining the highest standards of product quality and patient safety.


Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on production and facility equipment in line with maintenance schedules.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electromechanical faults.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise disruption to production.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment.

Equipment & Systems

  • Maintain and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment, including:
    • Conveyor systems
    • Vision inspection systems (e.g. camera-based inspection, reject mechanisms)
    • Assembly and packaging machinery
    • Sensors, motors, gearboxes, and pneumatic systems
    • Basic PLC-controlled systems
  • Perform routine calibration checks where required.

GMP & Compliance

  • Operate in full compliance with GMP, Quality System regulations, and site SOPs.
  • Accurately complete all maintenance documentation, including:
    • Work orders
    • Maintenance logs
    • Calibration and inspection records
  • Support internal and external audits from regulatory bodies.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Support root cause analysis investigations and implementation of CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
  • Contribute to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Health & Safety

  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture within the manufacturing environment.
