Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to support the development of innovative electronic products within a highly regulated engineering environment. This role will focus on the design, development, prototyping, testing, and industrialisation of PCB-based electronic systems, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams and external manufacturing partners.
The successful candidate will play a key role throughout the product development lifecycle, from requirements definition through verification and testing, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic circuits and PCB-based systems for new and existing products.
- Select and evaluate electronic components, perform power calculations, and support overall hardware architecture decisions.
- Create, review, and optimise schematics and PCB designs.
- Build, troubleshoot, and validate prototype electronic assemblies.
- Collaborate with PCB manufacturers and suppliers to support design-for-manufacture, production readiness, and issue resolution.
- Monitor supplier performance, manufacturing progress, and technical deliverables throughout development activities.
- Support verification, validation, and testing activities in line with project requirements.
- Contribute to risk assessments and design reviews, ensuring technical risks are identified and mitigated.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including software, systems, quality, manufacturing, and project engineering functions.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience designing electronic circuits and PCB-based products.
- Proven expertise in electronic component selection, power calculations, and hardware development.
- Hands-on experience building, debugging, and testing electronic prototypes.
- Experience working directly with PCB manufacturers and external suppliers.
- Strong understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
- Familiarity with requirements-driven product development and structured testing methodologies.
- Experience participating in technical risk assessments and design reviews.
- Fluent English communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience creating or interpreting wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of EPLAN or similar electrical design tools.
- Familiarity with GAMP5 and traceability from requirements through testing.
- Experience working within regulated industries such as life sciences, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, industrial automation, or related sectors.

- IPC-2221 / IPC-2222
- IPC-6012
- IPC-A-610
- J-STD-001
- IEC 61010-1
- CE marking requirements
- RED and other relevant product compliance standards
