Electrical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (Capital Projects) to support the delivery of complex capital projects within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on role providing electrical engineering leadership from design through installation, commissioning and handover.
You will take ownership of electrical scope across multiple projects, ensuring all works are delivered safely, compliantly, and right‑first‑time. The role involves close collaboration with project teams, contractors, operations, automation and quality functions to ensure electrical systems meet operational, regulatory and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide electrical engineering leadership across capital projects, from concept and detailed design through construction, commissioning and operational handover
- Own delivery of electrical scope including MV/LV power distribution, switchgear, PCS/automation power, UPS/backup interfaces and associated enabling works
- Act as the technical authority for electrical installations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, GMP requirements and site procedures
- Lead and oversee electrical contractors on site, including safety, permit-to-work, LOTO, RAMS review, inspections and quality control
- Support design reviews, construction walkdowns, issue resolution and defect close‑out
- Ensure robust execution of cable containment, routing, installation, termination, labelling and documentation
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with automation, instrumentation and equipment vendors
- Support testing, commissioning, safe energisation and production of structured handover packs
- Maintain accurate, controlled electrical documentation including drawings, test records, certificates, O&M manuals and as‑built records
- Promote strong electrical safety culture and contribute to risk assessments, audits and incident investigations
- Support project planning, cost forecasting and delivery of minor electrical works where required
About You
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar electrical engineering role within a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. pharmaceutical, chemical, life sciences)
- Strong understanding of GMP requirements and quality‑driven project delivery
- Experience with MV/LV distribution systems, substations, transformers and LV switch rooms
- Knowledge of ATEX / hazardous area requirements (where applicable)
- Proven ability to manage contractors and deliver projects safely, on time and to a high standard
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset and clear technical communication skills
- Confident working cross‑functionally in a complex, fast‑paced environment
