Systematic Literature Review (SLR) Lead Remote |Canada
A growing, highly specialized HEOR and market access consultancy is seeking a Director, HEOR to lead evidence synthesis initiatives for a diverse portfolio of pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. This role is ideal for an experienced researcher and consultant with deep expertise in systematic literature reviews (SLRs), particularly those incorporating real-world evidence (RWE) and observational research, in addition to traditional randomized controlled trial (RCT) data.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity within a collaborative, scientifically driven organization. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert, overseeing complex evidence synthesis projects while contributing to business growth, client engagement, and methodological innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, execution, and interpretation of systematic literature reviews, targeted literature reviews, and evidence synthesis projects across a range of therapeutic areas.
- Apply advanced expertise in reviewing and synthesizing evidence from observational studies, real-world data sources, registries, claims databases, electronic health records, and other non-interventional research, alongside RCT evidence.
- Provide strategic guidance to clients on evidence generation, study design, comparative effectiveness research, and evidence gaps.
- Oversee project teams and ensure high-quality deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
- Serve as the primary scientific and methodological contact for client engagements.
- Contribute to the development of evidence packages supporting health technology assessments (HTAs), reimbursement submissions, value dossiers, and market access strategies.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level researchers.
- Support business development activities, including proposal development, client presentations, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Stay current with evolving methodologies related to evidence synthesis, real-world evidence generation, and health economic evaluation.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree required (PhD preferred) in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Services Research, Outcomes Research, Pharmacy, Biostatistics, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within HEOR consulting, evidence synthesis, outcomes research, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise conducting and leading systematic literature reviews and evidence synthesis projects.
- Particular experience evaluating and synthesizing observational and real-world evidence studies, including understanding their methodological strengths, limitations, and applications within payer and HTA decision-making.
- Strong understanding of comparative effectiveness research, epidemiology, and evidence generation methodologies.
- Experience leading client-facing engagements and managing multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting complex scientific findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prior people management or mentoring experience is strongly preferred.
