SUMMARY:

Our firm is currently partnered with a growing pharmaceutical organization to appoint a Director of Commercial Analytics. This individual will serve as a strategic analytics partner to senior commercial leadership, helping translate complex market and performance data into clear recommendations that inform growth strategy and commercial execution.

The Director will oversee commercial forecasting, business performance reporting, and analytics across functions including Sales, Marketing, Market Access, and Commercial Operations. This is a highly visible opportunity for an experienced pharmaceutical analytics leader who can combine hands-on analytical expertise with executive-level communication and cross-functional influence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and ongoing enhancement of forecasting models supporting annual planning, longer-term strategic planning, and updated business projections.
  • Evaluate commercial performance across key measures such as sales volume, market share, patient starts, and broader organizational KPIs.
  • Identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities by analyzing market dynamics, product performance, and field activity.
  • Build executive-level dashboards and reporting tools that provide leadership with a clear view of business performance and progress against commercial objectives.
  • Prepare and contribute to recurring business performance reviews, including analysis of forecast variance, key trends, and recommended actions.
  • Integrate internal commercial metrics with relevant third-party pharmaceutical datasets to generate actionable insights.
  • Analyze territory, prescriber, account, and patient-level trends to support field optimization, segmentation, targeting, and brand strategy.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Finance, and other key stakeholders to support commercial planning and execution.
  • Establish reporting standards and data governance practices that improve the consistency, accuracy, and reliability of commercial information.
  • Provide analytical support to field-based teams and respond to business-critical reporting needs.
  • Lead and develop the commercial analytics function, ensuring that priorities remain aligned with the organization's broader growth objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Approximately 12 or more years of progressive experience across Commercial Analytics, Commercial Operations, Sales Operations, Business Intelligence, or Commercial Excellence.
  • Direct experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Previous leadership experience, including responsibility for developing and managing analytics professionals.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical commercial data and third-party data providers such as IQVIA, Symphony Health, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience working with prescription, sales, distribution, chargeback, or related commercial datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert large and complex datasets into practical business recommendations.
  • Strong forecasting, performance reporting, and commercial planning capabilities.
  • Confidence presenting analytical findings and recommendations to senior executives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with business intelligence and visualization platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or similar tools is strongly preferred.

Location:

Candidates based in New Jersey or the surrounding region are preferred. The organization is also open to discussing remote flexibility for a highly qualified individual, with an expectation of periodic travel for important meetings and collaboration.
