About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced analytics leader to join our Commercial Insights & Analytics organization as Associate Director, Advanced Analytics. This individual will play a critical role in transforming complex healthcare and commercial data into strategic recommendations that influence business decisions across marketing, market access, sales, finance, and portfolio planning.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner to cross-functional stakeholders, leveraging advanced analytical techniques, predictive modeling, and real-world healthcare data to identify opportunities, optimize commercial investments, and support both marketed products and future pipeline assets. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and the ability to communicate insights effectively to executive and non-technical audiences.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial Analytics, this position will contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives that drive growth, improve customer engagement, and enhance patient access.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Analytics & Business Insights
- Lead advanced analytics initiatives that support strategic and operational decision-making across commercial functions.
- Utilize internal and external healthcare datasets to evaluate business performance, uncover growth opportunities, and answer complex business questions.
- Deliver actionable recommendations by translating sophisticated analyses into clear, business-focused insights.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Finance, and Information Technology teams to solve critical business challenges.
- Monitor competitive activity, market dynamics, and healthcare industry trends to assess potential commercial implications.
Advanced Modeling & Data Science
- Design and implement predictive models that improve customer targeting, promotional effectiveness, and resource allocation.
- Support commercial investment decisions through marketing effectiveness studies, promotion response analysis, and forecasting initiatives.
- Apply advanced statistical methodologies to evaluate omnichannel engagement programs and field execution strategies.
- Develop frameworks that measure the performance and return on investment of digital and multichannel marketing programs.
Market Access & Contract Analytics
- Analyze payer, provider, customer, and channel performance to identify opportunities for revenue optimization and improved market access.
- Evaluate contracting strategies and assess their effectiveness across various healthcare stakeholders.
- Conduct segmentation analyses to support reimbursement, pull-through, and access initiatives.
- Examine utilization trends and post-contract performance to identify opportunities for enhanced commercial outcomes.
Real-World Evidence & Patient Analytics
- Leverage healthcare claims, treatment journey, and other real-world data sources to generate patient-level insights.
- Assess treatment patterns, utilization trends, and market opportunities to support commercial and portfolio strategies.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify unmet needs and emerging opportunities within targeted therapeutic areas.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Direct the development of dashboards, performance reporting, and recurring analytical solutions.
- Improve scalability through automation and standardization of routine analytical requests.
- Establish measurable KPIs and performance frameworks that support commercial objectives.
- Promote data-driven decision-making by improving access to meaningful business intelligence.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree required in a quantitative, scientific, business, or healthcare-related discipline.
- Advanced degree such as MBA, MS, MPH, or PhD is strongly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare consulting, data science, business analytics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success leading advanced analytics initiatives that influence commercial strategy and business outcomes.
- Experience working within consulting environments is highly desirable.
- Exposure to specialty pharmaceutical, orthopedic, anesthesia, pain management, or related therapeutic areas is preferred.
Required Skills & Expertise
Technical & Analytical Expertise
- Strong experience with predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and commercial analytics.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SAS, or similar analytical programming tools.
- Expertise in SQL and working knowledge of modern cloud-based data environments.
- Experience utilizing healthcare and pharmaceutical data assets such as claims, prescription, payer, and CRM datasets.
- Proficiency with business intelligence and data visualization platforms including Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
Commercial & Industry Knowledge
- Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare landscape, including payer systems, provider networks, patient journeys, and commercialization strategies.
- Familiarity with leading pharmaceutical data providers and commercial data platforms.
- Knowledge of market access, reimbursement, contracting, and promotional effectiveness measurement.
Leadership & Communication
- Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions and organizational levels.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a structured and strategic approach to analysis.
- Proven capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex analytical findings.
- Collaborative mindset and demonstrated success working within cross-functional teams.
Additional Information
- This is an individual contributor position with significant cross-functional influence.
- Limited travel may be required (approximately 10%).
