EPM Scientific have partnered with a high-growth, innovation-led manufacturer of advanced engineering plastics, supplying high-performance modified polymers into demanding applications across automotive, electronics, consumer goods, and industrial markets.
As part of its European expansion strategy, the business is looking to appoint a commercially driven Sales Director / Senior Sales Manager to build and scale its presence in Italy. This is a pivotal, early-stage hire with full responsibility for market entry, customer development, and long-term revenue growth.
This opportunity is ideally suited to individuals with deep experience in modified engineering plastics who are motivated by building a market from the ground up.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a clear go-to-market strategy for Italy, including target segments, positioning, and pricing
- Identify and win new business across key industries such as automotive, electronics (3C), appliances, and packaging
- Build relationships with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and distribution partners to establish a strong market footprint
- Drive the full commercial lifecycle from initial engagement and technical discussions through to long-term supply agreements
- Translate technical customer requirements into tailored material solutions across engineering polymers (PA, PC, PET, PPS, etc.)
- Work closely with internal technical teams to support material selection, validation, and application development
- Establish foundational sales processes, tools, and customer frameworks to support future team growth
- Monitor market dynamics including competitors, regulatory requirements, and pricing trends, adapting strategy accordingly
Requirements
- Sales Experience: Proven background in B2B sales within engineering plastics, polymer compounds, or advanced materials
- Product Expertise: Strong familiarity with modified engineering plastics such as PA, PC, PET, PPS, or reinforced compounds
- Market Exposure: Demonstrated success operating within the European market, ideally with an established network in Italy
- Commercial Capability: Experience developing new markets, building pipelines, and closing complex technical sales
- Technical Understanding: Solid grasp of polymer applications, processing, or injection moulding environments
- Communication: Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills across technical and commercial audiences
- Languages: Fluent in English and Italian; additional European languages are advantageous
- Mobility: Willingness to travel across Italy and wider Europe to support business development
