Electrical Build Technician

  • Location: Galway, Ireland (100% on-site)
  • Contract Length: 12 months initially, with strong potential for extension
  • Working Pattern: Full-time
  • Start Date: ASAP

Overview

We are supporting a leading global medical device manufacturer in Galway who are looking to add an experienced Electrical Build Technician to their Equipment Engineering team.

This is a hands-on position focused on the assembly, wiring, and commissioning of bespoke manufacturing equipment used in a highly regulated medical device environment. The successful candidate will work closely with Equipment Engineers, Design Engineers, and Mechanical Technicians to build and support equipment projects from concept through to deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Build, wire, and assemble custom manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Install and wire electrical control panels and cabinets.
  • Carry out equipment build activities on the manufacturing floor.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Technicians during machine assembly projects.
  • Support equipment builds ranging from short-duration projects to larger multi-week programmes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during build and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Level 6 National Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Electrical Instrumentation, Electrician qualification, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in a hands-on electrical role.
  • Experience wiring machinery, industrial equipment, automation systems, or manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, automation, or regulated industry environment is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working full-time on-site in Galway.

Desirable Experience

  • Medical device, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Equipment build, machine build, or special-purpose machinery experience.
  • Panel building and control cabinet assembly.
  • Commissioning and equipment installation experience.
