Strategic Marketing Director

Overview

Our client is seeking a Strategic Marketing Director to lead B2B marketing strategy and execution for a complex healthcare-related business unit. This senior leadership role will develop annual strategic marketing plans, drive go-to-market initiatives, strengthen brand positioning, and support business growth objectives through data-driven marketing programs.

The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, partnering closely with business leaders, sales, account management, communications, and marketing teams to drive market penetration, customer growth, and commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing & Brand Leadership

  • Lead branding initiatives, including positioning, messaging, and value proposition development
  • Drive annual strategic planning processes and contribute to multi-year business planning efforts
  • Develop and execute annual marketing plans aligned with growth objectives and commercial priorities
  • Create and implement comprehensive go-to-market strategies for products, services, and business initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to expand market share, increase customer engagement, and enter new customer segments
  • Conduct market assessments and competitive landscape analyses to inform business strategy

Commercial Growth & Sales Enablement

  • Partner with sales teams to generate, nurture, and convert leads throughout the customer journey
  • Develop strategies that support customer acquisition, retention, cross-selling, and deeper account penetration
  • Create sales enablement materials including presentations, case studies, sales collateral, training materials, and customer-facing content
  • Support commercialization efforts for new products and service offerings, including launch planning and market conditioning activities
  • Collaborate with account management teams to drive growth within strategic customer accounts

Content Development & Marketing Execution

  • Serve as a lead content creator and business copywriter across marketing and commercial initiatives
  • Develop marketing campaigns, promotional materials, email programs, web content, and digital assets
  • Oversee content development for websites and other digital marketing channels
  • Ensure marketing initiatives are delivered on time and aligned with business objectives
  • Coordinate the development and execution of advertising, promotional, and integrated marketing campaigns

Market Research & Customer Insights

  • Lead primary and secondary market research initiatives
  • Analyze customer feedback, competitive intelligence, industry trends, and business performance data
  • Translate research findings into actionable marketing and commercial strategies
  • Forecast market opportunities and support business planning through data-driven insights
  • Identify emerging customer needs and opportunities for growth

Events & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Develop and execute conference, trade show, and event strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment across business objectives
  • Participate in leadership meetings, business reviews, and operational planning discussions
  • Manage projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Ensure appropriate review and approval processes for external-facing materials

Communications & Thought Leadership

  • Partner with communications and public relations teams to support brand visibility initiatives
  • Help identify and develop thought leadership opportunities
  • Contribute to media relations activities and messaging development
  • Support executive communications, issue management, and reputation-building efforts
  • Develop press releases and other external communications materials

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience within a complex B2B environment
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic marketing plans that support business growth
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong experience creating content across multiple marketing channels
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership teams
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience translating complex business concepts into compelling marketing programs and customer-facing content
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
  • Background supporting membership-based organizations, strategic sourcing organizations, healthcare networks, or other complex business ecosystems
  • Experience leading product launches, commercialization efforts, and integrated marketing campaigns
