Role Overview

The Sales Director, EMEA will lead regional commercial strategy and execution, overseeing revenue growth, market penetration, and strategic customer engagement across academia, translational research, and biopharma. This is a hands‑on commercial leadership role suited to a growth‑oriented, data‑driven sales leader.
Preferred location: Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue & Market Expansion

  • Grow the installed base within key academic and biopharma accounts across EMEA.
  • Accelerate adoption of capital equipment platforms and increase recurring revenue (services, consumables, partnerships).
  • Identify and prioritise high‑value market segments and regional opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a strong, well‑qualified pipeline with accurate forecasting.
  • Develop and manage channel/distributor partnerships to expand reach efficiently.

Commercial Execution

  • Deliver quarterly bookings targets across product lines.
  • Maintain high forecast accuracy and disciplined pipeline management.
  • Lead structured deal reviews, close plans, and opportunity governance.
  • Strengthen recurring revenue performance across the region.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing regional sales and applications team.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, commercial excellence, and measurable outcomes.
  • Improve sales process rigor, territory planning, and performance management.

Strategic Customer Engagement

  • Build senior scientific and commercial relationships across academic institutions and biopharma R&D.
  • Lead complex, consultative sales cycles across scientific, procurement, and executive stakeholders.
  • Establish long‑term, strategic partnerships in drug discovery environments.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with marketing, product management, and applications teams to drive adoption and customer success.
  • Provide market insights to shape product roadmaps and commercial strategy.

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of commercial leadership in life science instrumentation or relevant capital equipment markets.
  • Proven ability to scale regional sales teams in growth‑stage or investor‑backed environments.
  • Strong success closing complex capital equipment deals in academia and/or biopharma.
  • Track record of building strategic relationships and scaling recurring revenue.
  • Consistent overachievement of revenue and pipeline commitments.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of molecular analysis, biophysics, or advanced cell‑based research tools.
  • Understanding of drug discovery workflows and translational research.
  • Scientific background in molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or similar.
  • Experience commercializing innovative or disruptive scientific technologies.
