Job Summary:
The primary role of the Business Development Manager - Chromatography is to sell an expanding portfolio of
highly differentiated chromatography solutions that address critical steps in the production of biologic drugs -
to new and existing Biopharmaceutical customers in the APAC.
This role will also support Bioprocessing Sales Specialist, Chromatography (OPUS/ OPUS PD/ ELISA/resins)
for Japan. The Bioprocessing Sales Specialist will be responsible for delivering year over year growth for the
OPUS Prepacked Chromatography Columns business in Japan, using the knowledge of chromatography to
support customers and our sales team in pre- and post-sales opportunities, driving technology adoption. This
role is to actively support the portfolio in front of our existing and rapidly growing customer base in the
bioprocess industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development
- Drive and build strategic plans to drive opportunities for chromatography solutions
- Develop and execute a management plan in close collaboration with Regional Sales Director and the BSS Leaders
- Conduct sales negotiations with technical and planning
- Establish and maintain Strategic Key Account relationships
- Develop new target accounts across the territory
- Develop and support customers as they move through the clinical pipeline from lab-scale to full process scale solutions
- Provide accurate and timely sales reporting and forecasting with a market leading CRM tool
- Be the customer and market advocate to internal organization
- Interface with Business and Market Development to ensure that appropriate product, market and competitive information is shared in an accurate and timely manner
- Involve or lead projects and assignments as part of the professional development opportunity
Bioprocessing Sales:
- Develop sales strategies and sales plan in the assigned sales territory to drive growth of Chromatography Resins and OPUS Prepacked Chromatography Columns business
- Articulate the value of combining Repligen's chromatography portfolio with Chromatography Resins and OPUS pre-packed columns
- Continuously meet or exceed sales targets for chromatography resins by actively seeking leads and opportunities to build and manage a robust sales pipeline, in close collaboration with the bioprocessing account management and field application colleagues
- Ensure compliance with sales processes including sales negotiation, recording, and monitoring lead management, sales activities, and funnel management through SalesForce.com. Including, but not limited to, providing accurate and timely sales reporting and forecasting in CRM system
- Support marketing plans within the assigned sales area (e.g., trade shows, road shows, seminars, promotions, development of sales collateral) in coordination with the marketing team
- Execute and support all aspects of field sales activities together with the other sales support team
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in a scientific (biology/biochemistry) or engineering (chemical) field
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or life science in downstream purification either or in a development or manufacturing setting in the bioprocessing industry
- A strong understanding of Cell Culture, Chromatography and Purification is a priority
- A strong understanding of Chromatography knowledge and the entire bioprocessing workflow is important
- Relevant experience with chromatography unit operations would be an advantage
- Proven successful sales track record and developing new business
- Excellent analytical, forecasting and management skills
- Professional, high motivation to succeed, focused and resourceful in problem solving
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Strong technical and business acumen
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Ability to prioritize and work independently to achieve defined goals
- Ability to work well within global, cross functional teams
- Able to work flexible hours to accommodate different work schedules
- Proficient in MS Office, and Salesforce.com
- Proficient in English and Japanese in listening, reading, writing, and speaking
- Able to travel extensively within the country and globally
