EPM is partnering with an independent, award-winning global healthcare agency specializing in medical communications, market access, and HEOR. Due to continued growth across its US client portfolio, the agency is seeking a Senior Medical Writer to join its Publications & Medical Affairs team.
This is an opportunity to combine hands-on scientific writing with project leadership, client partnership, and strategic communications support. Working alongside established global teams, you'll lead high-impact publications and medical affairs initiatives while helping support a growing US presence.
The ideal candidate will bring strong scientific writing expertise, experience leading publication and medical affairs projects from start to finish, and the ability to build trusted client relationships while maintaining the highest standards of scientific quality and publication excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of scientific content across publications and medical affairs projects, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, congress materials, slide decks, medical education assets, and plain-language summaries.
- Own publications and scientific communications projects from planning through delivery, serving as a key point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Partner with clients to provide strategic guidance on publication planning, scientific messaging, evidence dissemination, and communication objectives.
- Manage project timelines, resources, priorities, and deliverables to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high scientific standard.
- Leverage peer review expertise to support manuscript development, coordinate reviewer responses, and guide content through publication processes.
- Review and provide feedback on colleagues' work to ensure scientific accuracy, clarity, consistency, and overall quality.
- Ensure deliverables align with industry standards and publication guidelines, including GPP, ICMJE recommendations, publication ethics, authorship requirements, and disclosure best practices.
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Publications, Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, and other cross-functional stakeholders throughout the publication development process.
- Build strong client relationships through proactive communication, scientific expertise, and high-quality project execution.
- Mentor junior writers and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Degree-level or higher qualification in a scientific discipline.
- 2-3+ years of professional experience within a medical communications agency, medical writing agency, healthcare communications agency, pharmaceutical company, CRO, or similar scientific communications environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading publications, medical affairs, or scientific communications projects from planning through delivery.
- Experience serving as a client-facing contact and managing day-to-day client communications.
- Strong understanding of journal peer review processes, publication development, and scientific publication best practices.
- Working knowledge of publication compliance standards and industry guidelines, including GPP, ICMJE recommendations, publication ethics, authorship requirements, and disclosure practices.
- Hybrid flexibility required, with the ability to work onsite 2-3 days per week in either:

- Boston, MA
