Head of Sales, Europe

Location: Switzerland
Employment: Full-time

About the Company

We develop and supply recombinant proteins, enzymes, and related reagents that support drug discovery and advanced therapeutic development. We serve biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and research organizations across antibody discovery, immunotherapy, and cell and gene therapy.

The Opportunity

Lead sales execution across Europe. Based in Switzerland, you will grow customer accounts, convert product inquiries into orders, develop new business, and strengthen distributor relationships.

This is a hands-on commercial role in a product- and marketing-driven business, supported by global marketing, scientific, and operations teams.

You will connect European customer needs with global capabilities, working closely with scientific, commercial, and operations colleagues, including regular collaboration in Chinese with China-based teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the European sales plan and achieve agreed revenue targets across the EU, Switzerland, and the UK, in alignment with global commercial priorities.
  • Follow up on marketing-generated leads and product inquiries, win new business, and grow repeat purchases within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and research organizations.
  • Manage customer opportunities from initial inquiry and product selection through quotations, follow-up, closing, and account development, with technical support from the global team.
  • Coordinate European sales activities and support regional colleagues through clear account ownership, shared priorities, and practical coaching.
  • Manage distributor performance through joint business plans, product training, pipeline reviews, and coordinated customer engagement.
  • Work with application scientists and product teams to support customer evaluations, technical solutions, and custom project opportunities.
  • Coordinate with China-based colleagues in Chinese to align customer requirements, technical communication, and commercial execution.
  • Maintain reliable CRM data and forecasts, sharing customer feedback and market insights with global product and marketing teams.
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, conferences, and trade shows, with regular travel throughout Europe.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven sales or business development experience within the EU in life science research tools, recombinant proteins, biologics discovery reagents, or a closely related field.
  • Track record of winning customers, growing accounts, and achieving sales targets across multi-country territories.
  • Commercial leadership experience, including coaching colleagues, coordinating distributors, or leading regional sales initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in life sciences, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Fluent written and spoken Chinese and English, including the ability to conduct business and technical discussions in both languages.
  • Strong understanding of biotechnology and pharmaceutical research workflows, with the ability to engage scientists, procurement teams, and senior decision-makers.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, forecasting, and account management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively across international teams.
  • Based in Switzerland, or able to establish a Swiss base before starting, with existing authorization to work in Switzerland without employer-sponsored visa or work-permit support.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established relationships with European biotechnology and pharmaceutical customers.
  • Experience managing both direct sales and distributors.
  • Experience with antibody discovery, membrane proteins, immunotherapy, or cell and gene therapy.
  • Advanced scientific degree is a plus.
  • Experience managing sales professionals.
  • Proficiency in an additional European language.
