Head of MSL - Oncology (DE)
Location: West Germany (with regional responsibility across Germany)

We are currently partnering with a leading international healthcare organization to identify a Head of MSL for their Oncology franchise across Germany. The company is privately held and foundation-based, with a strong footprint in both pharmaceuticals and dermo-cosmetics, and a deep commitment to holistic human well-being.

This is a strategic and highly visible leadership role within the Medical Affairs function, responsible for guiding the regional MSL team, shaping medical strategy, and driving scientific engagement across key oncology stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the MSL team across Germany, with a focus on oncology.
  • Drive team development and support recruitment of new talent.
  • Translate global and local medical strategies into tactical field execution, ensuring full compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Contribute to the evolution of medical strategy at both local and global levels.
  • Identify and integrate emerging medical and technological trends into strategic planning.
  • Build and maintain networks with key stakeholders in oncology, including medical professionals, societies, and institutions.
  • Scout and support investigator-initiated study concepts from clinical or research environments.
  • Initiate and manage collaborations to support the integrated strategy of the Innovative Oncology franchise.
  • Provide training, education, and coaching in partnership with HR.
  • Guide the development of territory plans aligned with medical and brand strategies, fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Oversee and manage team budgets.

Candidate Profile

  • Advanced degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, or Life Sciences (e.g., MD, PhD, MSc).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an MSL.
  • At least 5 years of experience in medical/scientific roles within oncology.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare systems in Germany, including key stakeholders in oncology care and diagnostics.
  • Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and other relevant GxP standards and compliance codes.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and scientific collaboration within the DACH healthcare landscape.
  • Expertise in oncology research and clinical application, especially in precision oncology and translational/real-world research.
  • Hands-on experience in clinical trials (Phases 2-4) and study team collaboration.
  • Established network in oncology healthcare.
  • Ability to identify and leverage emerging scientific trends and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in German and English.
