Technical Project Lead | Zurich

An innovative technology company in Zurich is seeking a Technical Project Lead to drive complex engineering development projects in a highly technical, multidisciplinary environment. This role combines project leadership, systems engineering, product development, and customer interaction, offering the opportunity to work on advanced technologies from concept through to implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Leading cross-functional engineering projects from concept, development, and validation through to deployment.
  • Managing project timelines, resources, risks, and stakeholder communication.
  • Driving system-level design activities and coordinating requirements across mechanical, electrical, software, and controls engineering teams.
  • Developing and evaluating concepts for next-generation products and technologies.
  • Leading design reviews, system integration activities, and technical decision-making.
  • Creating and executing test plans to validate system performance and reliability.
  • Presenting project updates and technical strategies to leadership teams and customers.
  • Leading troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Supporting manufacturing and field teams with technical escalations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Optics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven semiconductor industry experience is essential, ideally within a semiconductor equipment manufacturer, metrology company, or fabrication environment.
  • Strong track record of leading complex technical development or R&D projects.
  • Deep technical expertise in systems engineering, mechatronics, electronics, optics, or a related field.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and translate high-level requirements into structured engineering solutions.
  • Experience in semiconductor metrology, contamination control, process equipment, or advanced manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous.
