Role Overview

We are looking for a Scientist with a background in pharmaceutical sciences and dissolution testing to join a Dissolution Sciences team in Beerse.

You will support the development of new pharmaceutical products, designing, planning and following up on dissolution studies throughout drug product development.

The role will contribute to the development of biorelevant dissolution methods, clinically relevant QC methods and specifications, as well as the use of in vitro data to better understand and predict in vivo drug exposure.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Formulation Development, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Clinical Pharmacology, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan and follow up on dissolution studies supporting pharmaceutical development.
• Support the development and optimisation of dissolution testing methods, including QC and biorelevant methods.
• Contribute to biopharmaceutical assessment strategies using in vitro dissolution data to support prediction of in vivo exposure.
• Support the development of clinically relevant QC methods and specifications.
• Contribute to improving the mechanistic understanding of in vitro dissolution.
• Support the development of data modelling and statistical analysis approaches, including DoE and MVA.
• Contribute to laboratory automation initiatives within the team.
• Support laboratory equipment qualification activities where required.
• Participate in technical and strategic meetings with colleagues in Beerse and across international sites.
• Represent the Dissolution Sciences team within multidisciplinary and cross-functional project teams.
• Prepare, review and maintain technical and scientific documentation.
• Work within applicable GMP and pharmaceutical quality requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• PhD in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or a related scientific discipline, OR a Master's degree with at least 2 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences relating to small molecule formulation development.
• Understanding of analytical chemistry, GMP and pharmaceutical compliance.
• Experience with dissolution testing, including QC and/or biorelevant dissolution, is highly desirable.
• Experience with dissolution method development would be advantageous.
• Experience with statistical modelling, data modelling, DoE or MVA is beneficial.
• Experience with laboratory automation and/or equipment qualification is advantageous.
• Strong scientific and technical documentation skills.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Knowledge of Dutch, or willingness to learn basic Dutch, is beneficial.
