Research Engineer

Role: Research Engineer

Location: Boston, MA

EPM is partnered with an innovative structural heart company developing next-generation catheter-based technologies designed to repair and modify native heart valve tissue through minimally invasive procedures. With an FDA-cleared commercial product, an expanding clinical-stage pipeline targeting both aortic and mitral valve disease, and significant recent strategic backing from a global cardiovascular leader, the organization is entering an exciting phase of growth. As they expand their U.S. presence, they are seeking a Research Engineer to serve as the primary U.S.-based R&D representative supporting clinical, engineering, and product development activities.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary U.S.-based R&D representative, partnering closely with global engineering and product development teams.
• Lead product and patient-related complaint investigations, root cause analysis, and technical assessments.
• Perform patient-specific anatomical evaluations using CT, Echo, 3D modeling, 3D printing, and bench simulations.
• Support case reviews, patient screening initiatives, and collaboration between clinical, field, and engineering teams.
• Manage the U.S. R&D lab and support physician, clinical, and field team training activities.

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4+ years of R&D or Research Engineering experience within the medical device industry.
• Experience in cardiovascular, structural heart, interventional, or other catheter-based medical device technologies preferred.
• Strong background in complaint investigations, root cause analysis, and cross-functional problem solving.
• Experience with anatomical modeling, 3D printing, simulation technologies, or patient-specific procedural planning is highly desirable.
