Assignment Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Freelance Injection Equipment Engineer to provide specialist engineering support across injection moulding equipment projects within a regulated manufacturing environment. The consultant will work alongside relevant project stakeholders to support the introduction, modification, optimisation, and technical oversight of injection moulding equipment and associated manufacturing systems.

The engagement is expected to support ongoing project activities relating to injection manufacturing operations and equipment performance. The client has indicated that the overall programme is anticipated to extend beyond 12 months.

Scope of Services

The consultant may be requested to provide expertise in the following areas:

• Assess and support technical activities relating to injection moulding equipment and associated manufacturing systems.
• Coordinate technical activities with stakeholders involved in injection moulding operations, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
• Support the specification, installation, commissioning, upgrade, modification, or relocation of injection moulding equipment where required.
• Conduct technical investigations and root cause analysis relating to equipment performance, reliability, or operational issues.
• Develop and recommend solutions to improve equipment performance, reliability, efficiency, and process robustness.
• Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and equipment start-up activities as required.
• Produce and maintain engineering documentation, technical assessments, and project deliverables related to equipment activities.
• Provide technical expertise to equipment-related CAPEX and manufacturing improvement initiatives.
• Support preventative maintenance initiatives through technical recommendations aimed at improving equipment reliability and availability.
• Collaborate with quality, maintenance, manufacturing, validation, and external suppliers where necessary to achieve agreed project objectives.
• Support troubleshooting and optimisation of injection moulding equipment and associated peripheral systems.
• Contribute to the implementation of equipment modifications and continuous improvement activities designed to enhance manufacturing performance.

Required Expertise

• Demonstrable experience supporting injection moulding manufacturing equipment within industrial or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong technical understanding of injection moulding machinery, auxiliary equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, qualification, or optimisation activities.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex equipment-related issues and implement effective technical solutions.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering projects involving a variety of stakeholders.
• Ability to independently manage technical deliverables and priorities within a project environment.

Desirable Experience

• Medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare packaging, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
• Experience supporting equipment qualification or validation activities including IQ/OQ/PQ.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and manufacturing performance optimisation.
• Experience supporting equipment-related capital investment projects.
• Familiarity with GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
