Formulation Scientist
We are seeking an experienced Formulation Scientist to support the long‑term optimization of a liquid cannabis formulation designed for inhalation delivery. This is a highly focused, part‑time contract role ideal for a scientist with deep formulation expertise who is looking to contribute strategically over an extended period.
The scientist will play a key role in advancing formulation performance, consistency, and stability, working collaboratively with internal R&D and product leadership. This position requires hands‑on technical insight and the ability to evaluate trade‑offs between efficacy, sensory experience, safety, and manufacturability.
Scope of Work
- Optimization of cannabinoid solubility and uniformity in liquid systems
- Selection, screening, and optimization of excipients suitable for inhalation applications
- Development and refinement of flavor systems, including sensory impact and ingredient compatibility
- Stability testing, identification of degradation pathways, and recommendations to extend shelf life
- Troubleshooting formulation challenges such as phase separation, precipitation, volatility, or device interaction
- Clear documentation of formulation work, findings, and practical recommendations
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Demonstrable experience with inhalation formulations (e.g., vaporized, aerosolized, or nebulized liquids)
- Strong understanding of lipophilic active ingredients, including cannabinoids or comparable compounds
- Familiarity with safety, toxicology, and regulatory considerations for inhaled products
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and communicate clearly with cross‑functional teams
