We are seeking a Senior Product Manager, Instrumentation to lead the commercial efforts of our single cell instrumentation line. This position will report to the Director of Product Management, Single Cell, and will be responsible for leading the execution of product management activities, ensuring the right product concept, fit, requirements, and eventual launch of the product. This role will require interfacing with multiple product managers within the single cell product portfolio and marketing program management, marketing communications, sales and distribution teams. They will be responsible in owning the business case, financial assumptions and pricing, positioning, and portfolio fit for the single cell instrument product.
What you will be doing:
- Defines and maintains business plan for single cell, including sustaining projects to drive improvements
- Develops an integrated strategy and product roadmap that supports the Single Cell Product Portfolio
- Assesses market needs and gaps, opportunities and trends, competitive landscape, and technology landscape for the single cell platform
- Defines customer requirements and user needs
- Serves as primary customer advocate during product development; drives tradeoff decisions
- Interfaces with manufacturing operations, quality and planning on product issues to ensure products meet customer expectations
- Collaborates with Regional Marketing, Global Marketing and Business Development to drive development
- Marketing representative on the core team for the single cell instrument development
- Educates sales and regional marketing on the single cell product line
- Designs / implements effective market and forecast models with stakeholders with granularity at the regional, market, and segment level
- Sets pricing strategy
- Sets and delivers against product profitability goals
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- BS or PhD in life science field - specifically NGS methods
- 6+ years of experience in marketing in Life Sciences or Clinical field.
- Strong technical knowledge of genomics, and/or next generation sequencing and molecular biology products
- Experience in hardware product management.
- Must have experience in customer interactions in either a Sales, Business Development or Marketing function
- Must have experience creating financial models and business cases; strong Excel skills
- Experience conducting market research and developing detailed product requirements
- Demonstrated ability to develop long-term product strategies and go-to-market plans
- Must have proficient written, communication and presentation skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences
- Experience working in cross-functional teams covering various internal organizations
- Ability to influence across the organization at all levels
- Exceptional time and project management skills and ability to prioritize competing requests
- Self-starter willing to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be willing to travel up to 30%
