R&D CDMO Technical Director
Company Summary: A global CDMO pharmaceutical company that recently acquired a R&D facility in western North Carolina is currently seeking a driven, motivated, and enthusiastic Director to join their R&D team as they are working on early stage process research through to Phase II supply under GMP. This position is located in western North Carolina. You will play a key role in providing both technical direction and business development. The role is centered around small nucleic acid (ex. oligonucleotide, nucleoside, siRNA, etc.) synthesis and purification.
The Director will be responsible for:
- Devising strategic initiatives and execution plans to drive business growth in the small nucleic acids CDMO sector.
- Supervising the enhancement and operational capacities of the small nucleic acid CDMO.
- Aiding the company's business team in cultivating customer relationships.
- Assuming responsibility for guiding the team in timely completion of customer projects.
- Heading the team in effectively resolving technical challenges encountered in the development of nucleic acid-based pharmaceuticals.
The Director should have the following qualifications:
- Ph.D. in a scientific discipline related to Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry with 8+ years of related industry experience in nucleic acid drug development (ideally at least 5+ in the small nucleic acids CMC space)
- 4+ years of team management experience preferred
- Have unique insights into the synthesis reactions of nucleosides, nucleotides, phosphoramidite monomers, and oligonucleotides related to small nucleic acids such as antisense oligonucleotides and siRNA
- CDMO background preferred
- An overall go-getter, self-starter mindset and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
