Responsibilities:
Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE): Lead and facilitate VAVE projects, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to analyze existing products and processes, identify cost-saving opportunities, and propose innovative solutions to enhance overall product performance and efficiency.
Cost Optimization: Conduct thorough cost analyses on existing products, components, and manufacturing processes to identify areas for cost optimization without compromising product quality, reliability, or compliance with regulatory standards.
Design Improvement: Evaluate product design concepts and recommend enhancements to improve functionality, manufacturability, and ease of assembly. Collaborate with R&D and Product Engineering teams to implement design changes effectively.
Lifecycle Management: Develop strategies for product lifecycle management, ensuring the continual improvement of products and processes over their entire life span, from concept through end-of-life.
Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the organization, promoting lean methodologies and driving initiatives to optimize processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency.
Risk Assessment: Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory teams to conduct risk assessments, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and guidelines throughout the VAVE process.
Project Management: Effectively manage multiple VAVE projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality, fostering effective communication and alignment on VAVE initiatives.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports, including project plans, progress updates, and cost-benefit analyses, and present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and emerging practices in VAVE, and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- More than 5 years of relevant experience in Value Analysis/Value Engineering within the medical devices or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of medical device design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience in leading VAVE projects and achieving tangible cost savings.
- Solid understanding of quality management systems and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA QSR, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact confidently with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
