Lab Operations Specialist III
We are seeking a highly detailed, motivated, individual to provide laboratory support through biorepository management in laboratory operations in support of drug development and discovery within Research. The Lab Operations Specialist will plan and coordinate operational activities required with the collection, delivery, and analysis of clinical and commercial bioanalytical samples for the company's pathobiology pre-clinical research studies.
The Lab Operations Specialist's responsibilities will include:
- Asset management, sample management, and assay/tissue tracking through systems such as Prima
- Serve as primary interface for operational activities between the company's pathobiology department and bioanalytical laboratory vendors; as well as provide day-to-day operational management of bioanalytical vendors to ensure delivery of samples
- Unpacking specimens and recording all necessary information in incoming shipment batches and incoming folder; maintain files with all associated paperwork
- Sample management and training of Prima and PPD, while helping to develop these and other research tools and processes
- Facilitate communications and contact between pathobiology lab and Lab Operations
- Participate in or manage operations meetings and conference calls with CROs, vendors, and multi-functional teams within the company
- Monitor all pathobiology equipment and ship samples
The Lab Operations Specialist will have these qualifications:
- Background in biology or a related discipline and laboratory experience in pathobiology/histology; knowledge of IHC, CISH, and other histology/pathobiology related assays
- A Bachelor's (minimum 7 years relevant experience) or Master's degree (minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience) in biorepository management
- Ability to manage more than one project at any given time, work successfully in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment, and communicate effectively to a variety of audiences (written and oral) in a high paced environment
- The capacity to show curiosity-driven engagement in pathobiology and troubleshoot independently
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight timelines, and thrive with a high degree of responsibility
