Freelance Manufacturing Engineer - Medical Devices

Contract: 12-month freelance assignment

About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join our team for a 12-month freelance engagement in Eindhoven. This role focuses on supporting and improving production processes within a highly regulated medical device environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence, troubleshoot issues on the manufacturing floor, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion safety, quality, and compliance in all manufacturing activities.
- Provide hands-on support on the production floor, addressing technical issues and deviations promptly.
- Analyze production performance and implement improvements to enhance yield and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain SOPs and process documentation in line with GMP and ISO13485 standards.
- Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving tools and Lean methodologies.
- Plan and execute engineering studies, including validation and verification protocols, and report findings.
- Collaborate with R\&D, Quality Assurance, and Operations to optimize processes and equipment selection.
- Drive continuous improvement through value stream mapping, capability studies, and process optimization.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role within a regulated environment (medical devices preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Design for Manufacturing, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab).
- Hands-on approach with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
Desired:
- Experience with GMP/GXP fundamentals.
- LEAN Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
- Familiarity with high-precision machining processes.
