CAPEX Procurement Category Buyer - Lab Equipment

Location: Visp
Contract Type: 12 Month contract

We are partnering with a leading organization in the life sciences sector to find a CAPEX Procurement Category Buyer who will play a key role in driving strategic sourcing initiatives and supporting major capital projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead RFx processes and vendor selection for laboratory equipment during early and execution phases of CAPEX projects.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and business stakeholders to understand current and future requirements.
  • Develop and implement category strategies for lab equipment, ensuring alignment across procurement and project teams.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives and identify value-engineering opportunities.
  • Manage supplier relationships, performance, and development, including compliance and issue resolution.
  • Negotiate commercial terms for equipment purchases and framework agreements.
  • Support risk management and develop mitigation strategies for critical suppliers and projects.
  • Ensure category strategies translate into effective execution plans for CAPEX projects.

Ideal Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering, with strong technical knowledge of lab/process equipment.
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, including global/regional category management.
  • Hands-on experience with CAPEX and laboratory equipment sourcing.
  • Background in regulated industries (pharma, food, cosmetics) is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in developing sourcing strategies and delivering measurable results.
  • CIPS certification is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; German or French is an advantage.
