EPM is supporting a rapidly growing, commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company is seeking an Associate Medical Director to support U.S. Medical Affairs activities related to hematologic oncology. This individual will serve as a key scientific leader, supporting the development, launch, and lifecycle management of a hematology-oncology therapeutic. The role requires cross-functional collaboration, scientific expertise, and the ability to meaningfully engage external therapeutic area experts to help shape Medical Affairs strategy.

The organization focuses on advancing innovative therapies for patients with high unmet needs and is expanding its U.S. Medical Affairs function to support its commercial and clinical-stage programs.

Position Summary:

The Associate Medical Director serves as a medical and scientific expert responsible for supporting medical strategy, facilitating scientific exchange, and contributing to evidence generation efforts. This role partners closely with the Medical Director and broader medical teams to deliver strategic and tactical components of the U.S. Medical Affairs Plan. The role involves engagement with healthcare professionals, congress planning, publication strategy support, medical education oversight, and collaboration with clinical research partners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Medical Strategy & Leadership

  • Partner with Medical Director to build and execute the U.S. Medical Affairs Plan, including situational analysis, strategic objectives, and tactical execution.
  • Support development of scientific training materials for Field Medical, Commercial, and cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in cross-functional medical initiatives and strategic medical planning activities.

Knowledge Generation & Scientific Communications

  • Support execution of quarterly medical strategy KPIs.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Global Medical, HEOR, and Scientific Communications on data generation and publication strategy.
  • Lead review and evaluation of investigator-initiated trials aligned with medical strategy.
  • Identify and support high-quality medical education programs addressing unmet educational needs.

HCP Engagement & Insights

  • Partner with Field Medical to ensure appropriate engagement with key hematology-oncology experts nationwide.
  • Collect real-time HCP insights to inform ongoing medical strategy and future planning.
  • Execute advisory boards, expert roundtables, and other scientific engagements.
  • Collaborate with Medical Information to support development of scientific response materials.
  • Review and approve external-facing medical and promotional content for scientific accuracy and compliance.

Patient Access & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Collaborate with Patient Access teams to support initiatives aimed at improving appropriate patient access based on product benefit-risk profile.

Experience, Education, and Skills

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree required (MD or PhD).
  • 8+ years of combined experience in pharma/biotech, academia, or agency; minimum 3+ years in Medical Affairs within Oncology required.
  • Hematology experience strongly preferred; U.S. Medical Affairs experience required.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and experience supporting product launches.
  • Ability to interpret clinical and scientific data; IIT/IST experience required.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, regulatory, and legal considerations in Medical Affairs.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and operate in a matrix environment.

Travel & Location
Must be based in Greater Boston Area, with approximately 3 days per week on-site.
~25% travel for internal meetings and scientific conferences.

Compensation
$210,000 - $225,000
Actual compensation is based on experience, qualifications, geographic factors, and internal equity. This role is also eligible for short-term and long-term incentives, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, flexible time off, 401(k), life and disability insurance, and additional employee programs.
