Principal R&D Engineer

An exciting opportunity to lead a growing R&D function focused on the development and commercialisation of innovative interventional medical devices. This role will oversee product development activities from concept through to manufacturing transfer while leading a multidisciplinary team of Engineers, Technicians and Team Leaders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead new product development programmes from concept through to commercialisation.
• Manage and develop R&D teams, driving performance, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Oversee project timelines, budgets, resources and customer deliverables.
• Ensure successful transfer of products into manufacturing with defined quality, yield and scalability targets.
• Act as the technical lead for customers, auditors and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Partner closely with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing and Commercial teams.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA, MDR and Design Control requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of medical device product development experience.
• 3+ years leading engineering or R&D teams.
• Strong background in catheter, interventional or minimally invasive medical devices.
• Proven experience delivering products from concept through to manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA, MDR and risk management principles.
• Excellent leadership, project management and stakeholder management skills.
