Role Overview A growing specialty biopharmaceutical company is seeking a motivated Rare Disease Sales Specialist to support its territory in the Bay Area. This field-based role is responsible for driving sales performance, building strategic relationships with healthcare providers, and serving as a trusted educational resource for customers within a complex specialty disease market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve Sales Goals: Meet or exceed territory sales objectives through strategic account management and effective execution of business plans.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and other key healthcare stakeholders.
  • Territory Planning: Analyze territory performance, identify growth opportunities, and develop targeted strategies to expand market share.
  • Clinical Education: Deliver compliant product and disease-state education to healthcare professionals and support informed treatment decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with field leadership and internal stakeholders to optimize customer engagement and support activities.
  • Market Intelligence: Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape, treatment trends, and customer needs.
  • Conference Participation: Attend regional and national medical meetings, educational programs, and industry conferences to support customer engagement and professional development.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, industry regulations, and compliance guidelines.


Experience and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 6 years of successful pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, medical device, or related sales experience calling on healthcare professionals.
  • Specialty Sales Expertise: At least 2 years of experience within specialty pharmaceutical or biotechnology sales. Experience in cardiovascular, pulmonology, rare disease, immunology, or other specialty therapeutic areas is preferred.
  • Account Management: Experience managing complex accounts, integrated delivery networks, academic institutions, or large health systems is highly valued.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding sales goals in a competitive environment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong presentation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex clinical information.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong business planning, territory management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel extensively throughout the territory, including attendance at meetings and conferences.


Salary and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $130,000 - $180,000 (Level and compensation dependent upon experience and qualifications)
  • Incentives: Eligible for competitive sales incentive and long-term incentive programs.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement offerings.
