Our client is a global medical communications agency partnering with leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to develop impactful scientific communication strategies across a range of therapeutic areas. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Associate Scientific Director, Publications to join a leading publications account.

This is an excellent opportunity for a publications professional looking to take on greater strategic responsibility while remaining closely involved in publication planning, scientific content development, and client partnership activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of publication plans across a large oncology account.
  • Provide strategic guidance on publication strategy, scientific messaging, and data dissemination initiatives.
  • Develop abstracts, posters, manuscripts, congress materials, and related scientific deliverables.
  • Serve as a trusted scientific partner to clients, offering consultative support throughout the publication lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including medical writers, editors, and client services to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of publication best practices, industry guidelines, and evolving scientific communication trends.
  • Support publication planning meetings, author engagement, and congress preparation activities.
  • Manage 1-2 direct reports.

Qualifications

  • PhD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced life sciences degree required.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of medical communications agency experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting scientific publications programs in an agency setting.
  • Strong understanding of publication planning and execution, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and congress-related deliverables.
  • Excellent scientific writing, data interpretation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced client-service environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology experience is highly preferred.
  • Previous mentoring or management experience within an agency setting.
