Engineer Manager, Equipment
EPM Scientific is partnered with Catalent, a global leader in drug development and manufacturing, to identify an Engineering Manager for its rapidly growing biologics manufacturing site in Madison, Wisconsin.
This position will lead the Equipment Engineering function supporting the production of therapies across oncology, autoimmune disease, infectious disease, and other critical therapeutic areas. Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Equipment Engineers supporting biologics manufacturing operations
- Provide oversight of equipment lifecycle activities, including onboarding, qualification support, modifications, retirement, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive equipment troubleshooting efforts, root cause investigations, deviation resolution, and implementation of corrective actions
- Manage capital equipment and facility-related projects from planning through execution
- Partner closely with Manufacturing, Validation, Quality, Automation, and Facilities teams to support operational performance and GMP compliance
- Oversee change controls, equipment upgrades, risk assessments, and implementation of new technologies
- Develop team capabilities through coaching, training, workload prioritization, and succession planning
- Support equipment reliability, operational readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to senior leadership on engineering strategy and site priorities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- Previous people leadership experience within engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, or technical operations environments
- Experience supporting equipment within a regulated GMP manufacturing environment
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience
- Experience leading capital projects, equipment installations, upgrades, or commissioning activities
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across multiple departments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical information to broader business audiences
- Experience supporting biologics, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred
- Currently an Engineering Manager, Equipment Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Reliability Manager, Facilities Engineering Manager, or Lead/Supervisory Engineer
- Experience leading engineers, technicians, or maintenance personnel
- Hands-on equipment troubleshooting and technical problem-solving background
- GMP-regulated manufacturing experience
- CAPEX project and equipment lifecycle management experience
