A rapidly growing virtual care organization focused on expanding access to high‑quality, whole‑person healthcare is seeking a Vice President of Onboarding & Clinical Education.
As the company scales nationally, building a world‑class learning and training ecosystem is essential to ensuring clinical excellence, provider readiness, and a consistent, high‑quality patient experience. This leader will shape the future of clinical training and professional development across a distributed, tech‑forward clinical workforce.
The Opportunity
This executive‑level role will design and lead the strategy, systems, and operating model that power clinician onboarding, ongoing education, and competency development. You will own the education budget and be accountable for defining and delivering a scalable, tech‑enabled learning environment that strengthens readiness, reduces variability, and elevates clinical performance across the organization.
As the architect of a next‑generation learning ecosystem, you'll build innovative pathways-leveraging simulation, AI‑driven tools, and structured upskilling programs-to ensure clinicians are equipped to deliver consistent, high‑quality care from day one.
What You'll Do
Enterprise Education Strategy
- Set the multi‑year education and training strategy across onboarding, competency validation, continuing education, and upskilling programs.
- Define the future‑state learning model, incorporating simulation, immersive learning, gamification, and structured programs for both experienced clinicians and new graduates.
- Anticipate organizational growth and evolving clinical needs to ensure education pathways scale effectively and safely.
Standards, Governance & Operating Model
- Establish the education operating framework, including standards, prioritization structures, governance, and decision‑making processes.
- Develop enterprise‑level competency and readiness criteria tailored to the virtual care environment.
- Align Clinical Operations, Quality, Compliance, Product/Informatics, and People teams around clear expectations, escalation pathways, and accountability.
Budget Ownership & Investment Strategy
- Own and manage the full education budget, including resourcing, technology platforms, vendors, and simulation/assessment capabilities.
- Lead annual planning with Finance, overseeing forecasting, investment strategy, and ROI measurement.
- Make thoughtful build‑versus‑buy decisions and maintain strong vendor relationships, ensuring measurable returns on education investments.
Executive Accountability for Outcomes
- Drive outcomes tied to scale, including time‑to‑readiness, consistency of care, early quality indicators, and reduction of variability linked to training gaps.
- Define KPI frameworks and an executive reporting cadence; partner with Business Operations to ensure reliable data and dashboards.
- Ensure all education initiatives are grounded in measurable impact and continuous improvement.
Org Design & Leadership
- Lead a team of Directors and Managers responsible for onboarding, continuing education, and operational support for learning programs.
- Partner closely with clinician leadership to define and track success measures across the clinician lifecycle.
- Build leadership capacity, establish career pathways, and ensure durable operating rhythms that support long‑term scalability.
What We're Looking For
- Proven executive‑level leadership in clinical education, onboarding, workforce development, or related domains.
- Experience building a scalable, tech‑enabled learning ecosystem, ideally integrating AI, simulation, and robust competency frameworks.
- Ownership of an education portfolio end‑to‑end, including strategy, people, platforms, and vendor management.
- Demonstrated success designing competency standards and readiness validation across diverse roles and specialties.
- Strong cross‑functional leadership with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and make informed tradeoffs under rapid growth conditions.
- A data‑driven approach grounded in measurable outcomes-linking education investments directly to readiness, quality, variability reduction, and clinician performance.
- Experience leading leaders, developing talent pipelines, and sustaining high‑performing teams.
